December 2008
Hello and Happy Holidays,
I hope this finds you healthy, happy & well.
We have opened our Community Christmas Shoppe located at 149 W Washington Street here in Sequim. It provides a great opportunity to shop for the perfect gift for that someone in your life who appreciates beautiful pieces of art made by SNAP participants and other local artisans, antiques and collectibles, handmade jewelry, native american drums and many other interesting items.
By doing some of your Christmas shopping at our Community Christmas Shoppe you are also helping support SNAP programs and the Dungeness Valley Health & Wellness Clinic, a free clinic for people who have no insurance or who cannot afford to see a doctor. The artists and vendors who place their items on consignment in our shoppe donate at least 25% of the purchase price to these two important organizations.
The Community Christmas Shoppe is open Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm.
September 2008
We celebrated our 10 year anniversary on September 7th with a great community event at Carrie Blake Park. The theme for the event was "A Community With Heart Includes Everyone". It was a beautiful summer day with fabulous music by Sequimarimba and Tapwater. Our wonderful event coordinator Victoria Jazwic along with many dedicated volunteers made the day one to certainly remember.
Community leaders Laura Dubois (Sequim City Mayor), Mark Ozias (Sequim Open Aire Market), Tom Hockett (Director of Olympic Community Action), Ruth Marcus (Sequim Gazette Columnist & Community Activist), Ursula Schletter (DDDetails Columnist & SNAP Participant), and Tresa Stuber (SNAP Director) spoke about the importance of community building.
