Jenell DeMatteo joins Snap as Executive Director
Serving people with developmental disabilities on the North Olympic Peninsula since 1998, Snap selected Jenell DeMatteo as interim director.
Tresa Stuber founding member/ board member and past executive director resigned June 30. Stuber provided leadership, heart and dedication to Snap during its formative years.
As Snap transitions into its second decade a future imaged by the founding members, DeMatteo brings an extensive and varied experience in social services and education with a Masters in Management and a B.S. in social work,” said Bill Humphrey, Snap board president.
SNAP changes to Snap
The Snap board adapted lower case letters for its organization name. “The term special needs became outdated as a definition for people with developmental disabilities soon after the organization was founded,” said Tracy Wilson, Snap board member speaking about Special Needs Advocate Parents.
2010 Olympia Insider Podcasts Keep You Informed During the Legislative Session
During legislative sessions things can happen quickly and knowing what^s happening can help you take action on issues that effect your life.
Olympia Insider video podcasts report on issues of importance to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. Informing Families Building Trust is a partnership for better communication on developmental disabilities issues. This project is funded by the Washington State Division of Developmental Disabilities to keep individuals and their families informed about upcoming and current changes in services provided by the Division. Video podcasts are easy to watch on your computer and give you a feel about what^s happening in Olympia during the legislative session.
New podcasts are posted each week during the legislative session and can be found on the web at www.arcwapodcast.org. For more information about bills of importance and hearings of interest, visit the Arc of Washington^s website at www.arc.wa.org and click on the Advocacy tab.
